The GS1 System (earlier the EAN*UCC System) is a single international system for the goods and services identification. Each number is unique on the global scale and therefore system provides for an absolute identification of the items.
The objective of the GS1 System is to improve the items identification process, arrange an effective information flow and as a result increase labour efficiency and reduce production costs.
